A “SUPERFORTRESS” in every sense of the word. I felt safe just standing next to it. And yes, I reached up and brushed my fingers up against the aluminum skin.

They are amazing machines, arent they? A few years ago my dad and I got to go for a ride in Fifi, the only other flying Superfortess. My grandfather was a B -29 flight instructor during the war. It was a really special experience.

It’s stunning. And there are whole bunch of great people that got it flying ( and keep it flying).
Did you go in?

Wow, I am incredibly jealous! I had neither the time nor funds for a ride, but I was just happy being in its presence.

Unfortunately I got there after tours ended. Maybe this is the excuse I need to see it in Kansas.

Read about the XB-29. Interesting take on an alternative engine idea.

It’s pretty cool - I’ve done it twice at Oshkosh. It was $ 20. A ride would be awesome though it’s big $$.
